The shape of a hotel markup

Simpler than flights: one amount, scoped to a city or to everywhere.

FieldAccepts
Markup TypePercentage (0–100) or Fixed Amount
AmountA number, 0 or more, up to two decimal places. Required
CityOne city, or All Cities

A city markup applies to hotels found by a search for that city.

How to structure them

Start with an All Cities baseline, then add city markups only where your rates or your competition differ.

The most specific markup wins, and they never stack

A city markup completely replaces the All Cities one for that city — it is not added on top.

Duplicates

If a markup for that city already exists, the panel shows Previous Markup and New Markup side by side and asks you to Confirm the replacement rather than creating a second one.

Search by amount, sort newest or oldest. Add hotel markup opens the form in a dialog.

Editing and deleting

Edit and delete per row, or select several and delete in bulk. Deleting removes the markup and its related data permanently; the All Cities baseline takes over for that city, if you have one.

Edit Markup opens the same form in a dialog, filled in. Saving works like adding a markup: keep the city and the panel asks you to confirm replacing the markup you are editing; change the city and a new markup is saved while the original stays in the list for you to delete.

Changes are not retroactive

Future bookings only. Existing orders keep what they were sold at.

What customers see

Search results and checkout show the marked-up price. The split appears only to you, on the order details, alongside Our profit.

Questions

Can I mark up by hotel, or by star rating? No — city, or all cities.

Can I mark up by country? Not directly. Add a markup per city in that country.

Does this affect existing bookings? No.

I edited a markup and now I have two. You changed its city. Editing saves the new city as a new markup and leaves the original in place; delete the one you no longer want.

Why is my profit lower than the markup? Usually a more specific markup than the one you expected. A coupon does not reduce it: its value is paid from your marketing wallet. See How pricing works.
