Blog

Your store has a blog at /blog on your own domain. This screen decides whether visitors can reach it.

This screen has one switch and nothing else. Posts are not written here: they are written in the blog's own panel, which you open from Blog Panel under Content.

Turning it off

Switching it off and pressing Save asks you to confirm first, in a Turn off the blog window:

  • Visitors can no longer reach the blog.
  • Its content is not deleted. Turn it back on and it returns exactly as it was.

Turn it off saves; Cancel leaves the blog on.

When a save does not go through

Saving waits until the blog is actually switched on or off. If that cannot be done, the panel shows an error, nothing changes, and the switch goes back to what it was. It happens when:

  • the blog could not be reached or did not accept the change — try again, since saving again is also the retry
  • your platform has no domain of its own yet, so it cannot have a blog

What customers see

While the blog is on, the storefront links to it by the name Blog:

WhereShown
The hamburger menu in the headerWith every header layout
The footer column headed by your store name, under Contact UsOnly in the Default footer's built-in columns, which your Footer menus replace. Every store starts with the required footer menus in Menus, so the footer normally has no Blog link

The link appears only once the blog is confirmed to be running, so it never points at a blog that is not there. When you turn the blog off, the links disappear. The storefront picks the change up by itself; there is nothing to republish.

The Skyline and Meridian footers have no Blog link of their own either, so the hamburger menu is where visitors find it — see Layout Variants.

Questions

Where is my blog? At /blog on your storefront's domain. View blog on this screen opens it.

I turned it off by mistake. Have I lost my posts? No. Turning the blog off hides it; turning it back on brings it back as it was.

The switch is on but there is no Blog link on my storefront. Give it a few moments. If it still does not appear, the blog may not have been set up. Press Save again with the switch on; if something is wrong, the panel says so.

There is no View blog button. It shows only while the saved setting is on, and only when your platform has a domain.

Where do I write posts? In the blog's own panel. Blog Panel opens it, and only while the blog is on.

I made a Blog menu with custom pages. Is that the same thing? No. That is an ordinary menu with your own pages. The link this screen controls is added by the storefront itself.
