What a review contains
Each review is a row showing the name the reviewer gave, its status, when it was written, the travel type, and how many positive and negative points it has. Expand it to read the rest:
| Part | Shows |
|---|---|
| Description | The main body of the review |
| Positive points | What the guest liked |
| Negative points | What they did not |
| Scores | Their ratings against your score criteria, from 0 to 5 |
| Travel type | Friends, Family, Solo or Business |
The row does not name the hotel.
Moderating
Each review shows a status of Approved or Pending.
| Action | Effect |
|---|---|
| Approve | On a pending review. The review is published |
| Reject | On an approved review. It is taken down and goes back to Pending |
| Delete (bin icon) | Removes the review for good. There is no confirmation step |
If the customer edits their review, it goes back to Pending and needs approving again.
A hotel page with nothing but five-star reviews reads as untrustworthy. Reject spam, abuse and reviews that name individuals — not criticism. A fair negative review with a good one next to it sells better than either alone.
What customers see
Approved reviews appear on the hotel's page on your storefront, with their scores and travel type. Reviews you have not approved are not visible to anyone but you and their author.
The travel type
Guests say whether they travelled with friends, as a family, alone or on business. Shown alongside the review, it lets a reader weigh it against their own trip — a business traveller's complaint about a small pool matters less to them.
Questions
Can I reply to a hotel review? Not on this screen. Replies are available on Tour Reviews, which are reviews of your own products.
Can I edit a review? No. Only its author can.
Can I un-approve a published review? Yes: Reject takes it down and returns it to Pending. To remove it entirely, delete it.
Does approving a hotel review award points? No. Only tour reviews do.
Where do the score criteria come from? Scores, which is read-only.
