Earning Rules
How customers earn points. Points are paid only for actions that have an active rule: until at least one rule is active, your club is switched on but nobody collects anything. Customers see your active rules under "Ways to earn" and spend their points on coupons from your Coupon Catalogue.

The actions
The list of actions comes from the platform: it offers only what the system can see happen and pay for.
| Action | When it pays |
|---|---|
| Purchase | Every successful purchase of a flight, hotel, tour or activity |
| Sign-up | Once, when the customer finishes registering |
| Inviting a friend | Once for the inviter, when the invited friend makes their first purchase |
| Joining with a friend's code | Once for a customer who registered with a friend's code |
| Tour review | When the customer's tour review is approved in Tour Reviews |
Every action pays out once it has an active rule. An action with no active rule pays nothing.
The points of Inviting a friend and Joining with a friend's code can also be set on Referral Points. Both screens change the same two rules: saving there updates them, creates any that is missing, and switches them on.
A rule for Birthday created before this list existed may still show in your list. Birthdays are not tracked, so it pays nothing; delete it.
Adding a rule
Add rule opens the form.
Action and service
Action is what the customer did. The hint under the field describes when it pays.
Only a Purchase rule asks for a Service. Choose one, or leave it on All services.
There is one rule per action, and purchases can have one rule per service. You can have a purchase rule for All services alongside one for a specific service: a purchase of that service pays by its own rule, and every other purchase pays by the All services rule.
The action and service of a rule cannot be changed. Delete it and create a new one instead.
How points are counted
Only a Purchase rule asks how points are counted. Every other action awards a flat number of Points.
| Mode | Behaviour |
|---|---|
| Flat points per booking | Every qualifying purchase awards the same number of points |
| Points per unit of currency spent | Points scale with the amount paid |
The amount counted is what the customer paid out of their own money: the order total less any coupon they used. The result is rounded down. Points are credited once the booking is confirmed, not the moment the customer pays. If the order is cancelled or refunded, the points it earned are taken back.
For proportional rules, Maximum points per order is an optional cap. Leave it empty for no cap — but on high-value bookings an uncapped proportional rule gets expensive quickly.
Tier multipliers apply to purchase points only. Every other action pays exactly the number on its rule, whoever earns it.
What the customer sees
Two fields are storefront copy, rendered in the "Ways to earn" list on the programme page:
| Field | Limit | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Title shown to customers | Required, 255 characters | Book a tour |
| Subtitle shown to customers | Optional, 255 characters | 2 points per dollar |
Write the subtitle to match the numbers you actually set. A customer who reads "2 points per dollar" and earns 1 will tell you about it.
Order and status
Order sets where the rule sits in the list: lower numbers are listed first.
Status is Active or Inactive. An inactive rule pays nothing and is not shown under "Ways to earn". Use it to pause an action without losing the rule.

The list
Each row shows the rule's title and subtitle, what it Applies to (the action, plus the service or All services for a purchase rule), its Points (5 per booking or 2 per unit spent for a purchase rule, with any per-order cap; 50 points for any other action), and its Status.
Editing and deleting
Editing changes everything except the action and the service, which stay locked.
Deleting stops customers earning points for that action. Points already earned are kept — deleting a rule never claws anything back.
A working example
Your Coupon Catalogue sells a $10 off coupon for 1000 points, so to a member 1000 points are worth about 10 dollars. You want roughly 2% back on tours:
- Action: Purchase, Service: Static tour (Tour in some panels)
- Counted: Points per unit of currency spent
- Points: 2
- Maximum per order: 1000, so a single large booking cannot mint an unlimited balance
- Title:
Book a tour, Subtitle:2 points per unit spent
A 500-dollar tour earns 1000 points, enough for the $10 off coupon — 2%.
Troubleshooting
A customer booked and got no points. Points arrive once the booking is confirmed. Check that a rule covers that purchase: an active rule for its service, or an active All services rule. Then check the club is on in Club Settings.
I cannot add a second rule for the same action. By design — one rule per action, and one per service for purchases. Edit the existing one.
Points are lower than the rule says. Check the maximum-per-order cap, and remember that a proportional rule counts what the customer paid out of their own money, after their coupon.
A flat rule paid less than a tier member expected. Tier multipliers apply to purchase points only.
The form says the list of actions could not be loaded. The rule cannot be saved until the list loads. Close the window and try again.
